OUR STORY

Fleur Kakasi & Juliane Bailey: Art, Design, and Sustainable Style

Our founders, Fleur Kakasi and Juliane Bailey, met in Singapore in 2020, and knew at once they had met a kindred spirit (or partner in crime). As little girls, they could both be found collecting shells from oceans fathoms apart. Today, the joint obsession continues together in South East Asia, and the two have combined their aesthetic love for everything shell related, with Fleur's technical skills and Juliane's curatorial expertise, to launch Lido Leone. Born in the Lion City, and bred for the Lido; and bringing you elevated resortwear from where you'd rather be.

ABOUT

FLEUR KAKASI

Fleur Kakasi is a Singapore-Based Australian artist, architect and interior designer, who creates works on paper that juxtapose playful botanical themes with architectural detail. Fleur brings practised technical drawing skills to the fore, offset by expressive movement and considered colour palettes.

After 20 years in the design industry as a practicing architect and interior designer, Fleur moved to Singapore with her young family, and began to carve out time for her art practice, which has seen her move into commissioned works, product development, and digital graphics work for local and international businesses.

Fleur's own label, FLEUR KAKASI ART, focuses on art textiles, marrying colour, layered texture and beautiful design in textiles offering short-run textiles that spark nostalgia, energy, and whimsy.

ABOUT

JULIANE BAILEY

Born in Germany to an architect father and mother in the fashion business, Juliane's love for eclectic design began at an early age. Following a degree in fashion journalism at Hamburg's Akademie Mode & Design, she spent the early years of her career working in Sicily, Venice, and New York. On returning to her hometown of Hamburg, she founded "BATTESIMO", a successful children's furniture and clothes boutique.

Since 2017, Juliane and her family have lived in Singapore in a small colonial 'black and white' house immersed in the jungle. Inspired by her travels and tropical surrondings, paired with a passion for beautiful fashion and interiors, she launched  THE JUNGLE EMPORIUM in 2020. The online boutique offers a curated selection of exclusive goods, sustainably and ethically produced in South East Asia and beyond.
